,What is Digi Yatra?
Digi Yatra facility is a facial recognition system. In a way, this is a completely paperless system. For this, you only have to show your face at the time of entry, security check, boarding in the aircraft or luggage drop at the airport. During this period, no physical boarding pass or any other ID is required.
How to register?
To register yourself on Digi Yatra, first of all you have to download the Digi Yatra application from Play Store or iOS. After this, registration has to be done in this application through mobile number and OTP. Along with registration, you can upload your identity card in DigiLocker or offline mode. After identity profiling you have to upload a selfie. After this your Digi Yatra ID will be created. Only 4 things are necessary for Digi Yatra. 1. Name 2. Email ID 3. Mobile Number 4. Identity Card (Voter ID, Driving License, Aadhaar etc.)
How will airport security know?
Now the question arises that how will the security personnel know during the security check at the airport that you are using Digi Yatra? According to the information given on india.gov.in, the passenger has to provide his Digi Yatra ID number while booking the ticket. With this, Digi sends the travel ID along with its data to the departure airport by the respective airlines. Due to which during the security check at the airport, the security personnel look at the ticket and understand that this passenger has used the Digi Yatra app and this provides many benefits to the passengers. ,
Digi Yatra Verification
After registering on Digi Yatra, one has to go to the Digi Yatra registration kiosk at the airport to get the ID verified. Whereas if you have given Aadhaar as ID proof then the verification will be online. Apart from this, CISF will do manual verification in cases of other IDs. However, once the ID is verified, your photo and data is added to the Digi Yatra system.
Paperless entry at airport?
Let us tell you that Digi Yatra facility is not available at all airports in the country. But at the airports where Digi Yatra facility has been started, a separate gate has been made for Digi Yatra passengers. Passengers only have to scan their boarding pass or e-ticket (printed or soft copy in mobile) at these gates. Digi Yatra ID then verifies the identity through face recognition. After successful verification of ticket and Digi Yatra ID, the e-gate opens and entry into security check and aircraft boarding is granted.
Which airports have Digi Yatra facility?
According to the information, currently Digi Yatra facility is available at 13 airports of the country. According to the information given on the website of Digi Yatra Foundation, this facility is available at Delhi Varanasi, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati and Chennai airports. There are preparations to start Digi Yatra facility at 14 more airports in the country by March this year.
